Coach JC is a motivated, health-focused Colorado Springs native. The first sport she ever wanted to play was the game of football but was discouraged because the sport “wasn’t for girls.” Now, there is a chance to prove that Girls Flag Football was designed to assist our talented, young women to thrive and grow after high school sport. An adoration and passion for sports is a theme that has shaped Coach JC since she was eight years old, playing sports throughout her life including basketball, softball, soccer, and track-and-field. Coach JC has been a licensed physical therapist assistant at Penrose Hospital for the past 9 years, helping individuals rehab their injuries and return to living an active life. She is also a Certified Brain Injury Specialist, trained in treating individuals with concussions, including athletes at the high school and college levels. Coach JC is also heavily involved in diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts throughout the city. In November 2024, she will graduate with h her Master's in Health Education and Promotion, further encouraging an active lifestyle throughout our communities while providing equitable access to resources that support healthy living in all facets of life.
Coach Colons is a Colorado Springs native who left Springs as a boy then raised in Los Angeles California. There he learned the importance of a competitive spirit and resiliency in order to earn a football scholarship too the Big Sky conference Southern Utah where he played Cornerback and Punt Return before transferring to SCIAC Conference Occidental College where he earned 2nd team All-American Defensive Back and the teams Coaches Award: 'Tough times don't last Tough people do' on his way to leading the schools turn around from worst to first. Focused energy and a winners attitude earned him the opportunity to try out for an Arena Football Team in Oklahoma where he earned a starting DB roster spot and played almost 1 full season before a severe shoulder separation ended a career that was to be continued in Edmonton Canada. 2010 he started his coaching career in Colorado Springs at Coronado HS as the JV Offensive Coordinator and Varsity Defensive Backs coach. In 2013 & 2017 the same dual coaching position was worked at Palmer HS. Coach Colons ambition is to help create a league that empowers girl fb players with competitive skills that put them in position to succeed at the high school level once sanctioned by CHSAA then eventually sanctioned as a scholarship sport by the NCAA and NAIA. His passion is coaching football players to levels they never imagined possible. His hobbies are recording football games/plays/shows on the DVR then extracting key plays/explanations/breakdowns for O/D/ST which was started in 2013 and 10 years later is 20TB+ worth of information on video w/ attaching still photos. Safe to say Football is life.
